Murder in York

Taking a break from a boring conference in York in the days before Christmas, Chief Inspector Oldroyd joins a ghost tour through the dark snickelways of York. Things turn serious when the body of Henry Marlow a notorious local landlord is discovered by the tour guide in an alleyway. Oldroyd and the local inspector have no shortage of suspects but come under extreme pressure when two homeless men are murdered. Is the killer conducting a vicious campaign against the homeless or is this a cover for something else? Oldroyd's investigation takes him into the grim world of the homeless and deep into the history of the city.
